Monika Allen, ND, LAc

Dr. Monika Allen is an ND, LAc at Natural Healthcare Northwest. After graduating from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Pre-Medicine, BA in German, and a Chemistry minor, she gained clinical experience while volunteering in emergency departments and working with Spinal Cord and Traumatic Brain Injury patients as a rehabilitation technician at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado. She received her Doctoral degree in Naturopathic Medicine and her Masters in Acupuncture from Bastyr University. She is currently completing her certification in Chinese Herbal Medicine at Bastyr University. Dr. Allen most recently completed an externship in Shanghai, China studying acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in hospitals affiliated with the Shanghai University International School of Traditional Chinese Medicine where she studied under Dr. Pei in treating neurological conditions (post stroke, vertigo, tinnitus, upper motor neuron diseases, Menier’s Disease, Bells Palsy, etc.) with acupuncture.

Providing patients with as many options and approaches to health and well being as possible is Dr. Allen’s passion. Her background in assistant teaching at Bastyr University confirms her interest and emphasis on taking time to teach her patients. She feels that providing her patients with information is the first step in empowering people to make informed decisions about their health, and ultimately improve overall quality of life. Dr. Allen strives for a patient-centered visit to explore/determine what pertains to that individual at any given time, and is open to continuously evolving her treatment approach in hopes to guide them patients back to balance and optimal health. She is determined to find the root cause of the problem. In treating the cause, she uses a variety of modalities including; diet, nutrition, and lifestyle counseling, homeopathy, Western and Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, and acutonics.

Dr. Allen finds balance and enjoyment in life through travel, yoga, outdoor recreation, and music. She loves to work with people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. If German speaking patients would feel more comfortable speaking in German, Dr. Allen speaks German quite fluently and would be happy to accommodate them. By combining Western and Eastern medicine modalities, she hopes to play a vital role in providing people with the kind of healthcare every individual deserves.
